Description
Two boomer boys, both from good working class homes, both with one seemingly singular altruistic mission: to pay their respects to strangers at a shiva house…a house in the suburbs where they were as unknown to the assembled family and friends as the deceased was to the two boys. On the surface it sounded noble, but while one thought he was doing a mitzvah by adding his presence to a minyan service, the other was more interested in serving himself at the buffet table. How and why the two boys came up with this crazy idea is actually entertaining, and the experiences they had until they were finally busted as interlopers is humorous as well. Shiva Crashers isn’t as offensive as it sounds. The adventures of the two boys, contrasted against the customs of how shivas have evolved in modern times, and perhaps what we can look forward to in the future, is a surprisingly amusing read!
